We already are very excited about Windows Phone 8 after the announcement made yesterday, but Paul Thurrott has posted a bunch of few more features that are coming to WP8 and looking at it, it seems they are sound enough to be shared. So here is a list of points from his lengthy post.
Data Smart :
- Windows Phone 8 seems to have borrowed the Data Usage feature of Android ICS, which allows you, to view your bandwidth usage and also know the usage on per app basis.
- It also seems to have integration with your carrier so you will be able to find more data plans when required.
- It can offload the data to WIFI whenever it finds one, without requiring you to do anything more.
Smart Local Scout :
- It will have the feature to find WIFI Spot for you.
- It can even find local deals for you which can be pinned to start screen, saved to wallet and shared with friends.
New API : Even though Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 share a lot at Kernel level, Windows Phone 8 will use a new API called as WinRTP or WinRT Phone API.
Controlling Windows Phone 8 from your PC : Using a brand new Metro Style Sync App, You will be able to control your phone (probably data wise not remote login) and also transfer data or share data over the air.
Deeper Skydrive Integration : Xbox Music / Video apps will be able to access Skydrive from within the app and will allow to access your phone storage.
New Communication Hook : Microsoft and Nokia has designed something called as Rich Communications Suite (RCSe) which allows any third part app to register themselves with it. This is something like Blackberry had where Yahoo Messenger App contact can be linked with existing contact of Blackberry.
Deeper Camera Integration : Apps will be able to integrate seamlessly with Camera right at the time you want to take picture, Thanks to Lens App concept. This is just opposite to what we have now in Windows Phone 7.5
