WP7 Drone, An Open source project controls AR Drone with a WP7 app which is is a controller library and client application for Windows Phone 7.1, written in C#. ( Thanks Justin for Tweeting this ). Below is a video followed by details of the project.
This project is developed by three students, @JohnBrock12 ( Team lead, GPS algorithms, testing) , @AlexPerovich ( Phone App – controls, video, UI ) and @ReinrodDMD ( Quadcopter and GPS hardware ). Complete details of the project is listed here
As of now Multi-Direction Controls has been implemented and Accelerometer Controls, Streaming Video, GPS Auto Flight are up next. The phone communicates with the Drone over WiFi. Apart from direction control, the app can make the Drone take off and Landing.
Streaming video will be one of the options many users will look forward though many will think its going to privacy invader but then you need to use it wisely.
Secondly GPS Navigation will be important which should include a map view and also if it can include auto pilot mode to travel over source-destination path, when set over the map, will be just awesome.
