After a lot of complaints and negative feedback from the users, WhatsApp is finally bringing back the old Status feature. Just a few days ago, WhatsApp ditched the old status feature for Snapchat’s Stories-like feature, which did not go well with the users. Hence, the company has decided to bring the feature back.
Looks like the company was paying attention to what the people are saying about the new Stories feature. The Stories feature, when launched, got mixed reviews by the users, which made the company bring back the old one. However, it will be called Taglines, and not Statuses.
The company issued this statement:
We heard from our users that people missed the ability to set a persistent text-only update in their profile, so we’ve integrated this feature into the ‘About’ section in profile settings. Now, the update will appear next to profile names anytime you view contacts, such as when creating a new chat or looking at Group info. At the same time, we’re continuing to build on the new Status feature that gives people fun and engaging ways to share photos, videos and GIFs with their friends and family throughout their day.
Bring back the old feature does not mean that the company is giving up on the new Stories feature. WhatsApp is constantly working to improve the Status feature by adding Videos and GIFs support. We are sure that WhatsApp will be making the Status Stories feature much like the new Messenger ‘Day’ feature.
The new Tagline feature will be under the ‘About’ section of the app. The feature already made its debut on the beta version of the Android and Windows Mobile app. Speaking with TechCrunch, WhatsApp confirmed that the feature will come to Android next week, and to iPhone soon. We expect the feature to come to Windows Mobiles soon as it is already available on the Beta Version of the app.
