Cortana to get Reminder Creation from Camera Roll Insights & Pen support in Windows 10 Creators Fall Update

Microsoft has rolled out Build 16215 for Windows 10 Insiders on Fast Ring which brings tons of new features to Windows 10 that will show up in Windows 10 Creators Fall Update this September. Not only Action Center, Edge and Ink support has new features, Cortana has some impressive features as well. Let’s have a look at them.

Reminders using Vision Intelligence:

Cortana can scan your images, and can take details from something you have marked using ink feature (using a pen) to create reminders. This is useful if there an even coming up, and you took a picture only to forget about it later. Available for en-us right now, Cortana just got better.

Cortana camera roll insights: With your permission, Cortana will now prompt you to create a reminder when she notices event posters in your camera roll! To try it out, make sure you’re signed into Cortana with your MSA or work account, and then give Cortana permission to access your camera roll via Settings > Cortana > Permissions & history > “Manage the information Cortana can use this device”. The next time you take a picture of a flier for an upcoming event, Cortana will reach out asking if you want to create a reminder for that time.

Once you allow Cortana to scan your images, it will start figuring out if there is anything has dates and looks like an event. You will need to signup with Cortana and Windows 10 with same MSA account to make it work. Go to  Settings > Cortana > Permissions & history > “Manage the information Cortana can access from this device”, and give Cortana permission to access your camera roll. The next time you take a picture of a flier for an upcoming event, Cortana will reach out asking if you want to create a reminder for that time.

This is only for new images, and will only provide insights when your device is plugged into a power source and on an unmetered network.

Cortana Lasso:

If you use Pen a lot, just use the lasso tool to circle the relevant information and Cortana will recognize the time and offer suggested follow-ups through a context menu. You will have to give Cortana permission to use inking feature by going to Settings > Device > Pen & Windows Ink > Press and hold, and select Cortana Lasso in the drop-down picker.

Use the new lasso tool to circle the relevant information and Cortana will recognize the time, and offer suggested follow-ups through a context menu.
