The new Nokia led by HMD Global today launched the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 in India. The company had first announced the handset at MWC in Barcelona this year, with the Nokia 6 already being on sale in China since the last few months.
Apart from pricing its handsets competitively, Nokia is also trying to set its handsets apart by offering unrivalled build quality and a superior Android experience. The company achieves the first one by constructing the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 from series 6000 aluminum and then putting them through different polishing and machining process. As for the Nokia 3, the handset features a metal chassis with a plastic body.
As for the specs, the Nokia 6 is the most powerful of the bunch. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display, an octa-core Snapdragon 430 chipset, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, a microSD card slot, USB-C port, and a 3000mAh battery. A 16MP shooter with PDAF and dual-LED flash resides at the rear of the device, with an 8MP shooter at the front. The Nokia 5 sports a similar design and specs as its elder brother but switches to a smaller 5.2-inch 720p screen, 12MP rear shooter, and 2GB RAM/16GB storage to achieve its lower price point.
Finally, there is the Nokia 3 which is powered by a quad-core MediaTek chipset clocked at 1.4GHz. Featuring a 5-inch 720p display, 2GB RAM, and 16GB storage, the Nokia 3 comes with an 8MP shooter at its rear and front.
Nokia promises a superior software experience on its three devices unveiled today. It does so by ensuring that they all run on a near-stock build of Android Nougat, and it further sweetens the deal by promising monthly security patches of them. The Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 run on Android 7.1 Nougat, while the Nokia 3 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. The company is also offering unlimited storage space on Google Photos for uploading and storing photos shot from the three phones.
As for their prices, the Nokia 6 is priced at Rs 14,999, while the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 are priced at Rs 12,899 and Rs 9,499, respectively. The Nokia 6 will be available exclusively online through Amazon, with the first flash sale registrations starting from June 14th. The Nokia 5 will be available offline exclusively at over 400 retail stores across the country. Nokia 3 will be also available at all the stores.
Nokia is also promising proper support with over 300 service centers across India. It will also include web chat, pick up and drop support for over 100 centers across India.
