When Microsoft & Turn 10 announced Forza Motorsport 7 as one of the biggest game, they were not kidding. The upcoming game will need around 100 GB of space on your Xbox One, and if plan to buy a disc, you will still need to download 55GB from the internet to start playing it. Honestly, I think this is getting out of hands, even though Microsoft recently promised to optimize the game downloads, but this is freaking HUGE.
In an official announcement, Turn 10 detailed:
This is the largest game we’ve ever released in terms of sheer footprint size as well. The Xbox One game will be approximately 95 GB at launch. Just about 45 GB of that contained on the Blu-ray disc. The remainder will be available to download for free on September 29.
Naturally, the game can be played from the disc alone. However, if you want to experience the true depth and breadth of content in Forza Motorsport 7, you’ll want to take the additional update.
As a matter of fact, you don’t need the update to just play multi-player, you will need to download for single-player campaign as well once you are done with the first play-through of the Forza Driver’s Cup on the disc. It will download new competitive and Showcase events, as well as new trophies and Driver Gear reward
The game includes more than 700 cars at launch, 32 of the world’s greatest tracks, a massive career in the Forza Driver’s Cup, and of course a huge list of ever-changing multiplayer and competitive modes.
That said, this 100 GB is without 4K assets. This is obvious as not everyone is on Xbox One X with 4K gaming, and those assets will be downloaded as per the need so they don’t take a toll on your bandwidth, and idle time.
I think it’s time Xbox One gamers grab a new hard-disk for them if they plan to keep downloading games at this pace, and such games with large size downloads.
