Windows 10 for Phone preview has got handful of features right now. While the most revamped section is the Setting, the keyboard on Windows 10 has got some really nifty features. It includes a precision pointing stick & shortcut to emoticon. The prior looks like a red button on IMB Thinkpads which acted as mouse as they lacked touchpad.

Precision Pointing Stick :
In Windows Phone 8.1, if you need to move the cursor left and right, you would have to tap on that line and then use the miniature size selector to move back and forth. Now imagine if you need to move up and down a document, you will need to scroll and then tap. A lot of work there.
In Windows 10, you have this stick embedded between Z and X alphabet and appears as red dot. If you want to move up, down, left and right in a document, hold & drag in that direction to move the cursor. This way you don’t have to leave keyboard. Mind you that this is not very convenient in the first go. You will have to try it for a couple of time to get used to it. When you drag it to left and right, you will a small arrow appearing to that direction.
That said, the stick still doesn’t make selection an easier process. If you need to select something, you will need to tap, select and still use the old style cursor method.
One thing that can be done to select a text where the cursor is, a double tap on the stick to select, and then use cursor mode to go for partial or full selection. This will save at least two steps.
Emoticon Shortcut:
When you are editing a document or writing an email, notice that number button has an emoticon symbol. Long press on that, and you will get quick access to emoticon. This gave space to spacebar which is bigger compared to the 8.1 version and the comma is moved next to language selection button. Not really required change because it then adds an extra step for yo to switch back to alphabet mode.
