Lumia 950 XL packs in some incredible features which you should make use of. After trying it out for 10 days, here is what I think you should give a try. Let us know in comments if you have anything to share.

Enable Full Glance Screen:
If you have used glance screen on any of your earlier devices, you would know that it supports images as well. This feature is turned off by default on Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.
- Go to Settings > Extras > Glance Screen
- Turn on background Photo & choose between B & W or Colour.
Enable Call Recording
- Go to Settings > System > Phone > Scroll down and select which app to record calls.
Know that this doesn’t do automatic call recording, rather you need to manually press the record on the in-call screen. All the recorded calls are stored under “Recorded Calls” folder. More here.
Enable Slow Motion Video Capture:
Lumia 950 XL and 950 camera can record slow motion video at various resolutions, but make sure to choose either 1920 X1080P/60 FPS or [email protected]/30fps for best result. To do this:
- Open camera app > Tap on the three dots on top left and select settings.
- Next scroll down to find Videos section and then choose appropriate settings for video.
Now to record slow motion video, first switch to video mode and then select the “Tortoise” icon from the camera menu on top middle. You will get a prompt about slow motion video. Next hit the record button to start recording in slow motion.
If you want to edit your slow motion video, open the video from the Photos app, and select edit slow motion. You will be able to vary speed, trim videos and so on.
Enable Rich Capture
Rich Capture is like HDR when the flash is turned off. It takes pictures at various exposure level, and them combines them for the best result. When you launch the camera app, in top middle, you have the toggles i.e. Switch camera, Flash and then you Rich Capture with A and a magic wand. Tap on it to turn it on if you see a stop icon instead.
Enable Hey Cortana
Hey Cortana feature lets you launch Cortana without pressing search button. You can then continue to launch apps, search on the web, and even create appointments. This works on Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. Check out the video below, and post here.
Connect a USB Drive
Windows 10 Mobile has started supporting USB drives but there is a small catch. Lumia 950 XL comes with a USB Type C, and if you want to connect a thumb drive or external hard drive, you will need right adapter for it. The file can be accessed through File manager.
Enable Missed Call Notification on Windows 10
If you have a Windows 10 PC or Laptop with Cortana enabled, you can receive missed call notifications on your computer. You can enable this by going to Cortana > Notebook > Settings > Enable Missed Call notification.
Set Colour Profile
If you have a special preference to display about its temperature, brightness and all, then Lumia 950 XL lets you change Colour temperature, tint, and colour saturation. Try Vivid, and you will just love it.
Enable Video Calls:
Lima 950 XL comes with a an app, Skype Video, which lets you instantly start a video call without laughing Skype. Of course it uses Skype, and is uses the same API, this has been implemented to make things simple. It can integrate in your phone dialer, and call history as well. Launch the Skype Video App, and setting it up is straight forward.
