Adobe Reader Comes to Windows Phone 8, Disappoints.
After almost a year of Windows Phone 8 announcement, Adobe Reader has finally rolled out support for the Microsoft’s latest Windows Phone operating system. Though Windows Phone readers had not been loners as Microsoft itself rolled out its own PDF reader and so did a third party reader, which did a better job than MS on the app.
Adobe, like its Windows Phone 7.X counterpart, has implemented this app well with all basic features like Home, Search, Bookmarks, etc. available upfront. One thing which I specifically like, and you will too, is the slider which lets you preview the pages of the PDF file easily and scroll faster. This is so much better compared to the boring jump to page or even scrolling.

No Sharing: Comparing this to the Microsoft Version & the third-party PDF Reader, Adobe’s app does not have Skydrive integration which allows one to share PDF files and thanks to Microsoft’s there is no way to attach an existing PDF file to email attachment.
Search: I also tried out the search feature in Adobe’s app and it was disappointing. It only searches the first page for that keyword and hitting next does nothing. Microsoft’s app does an excellent job when it comes to search. It lists down all the pages and highlights the text along with the paragraph. This makes it easy to find anything in specific.
Zooming: I might be wrong here but I did find MS PDF reader rendering text faster compared to Adobe’s app. I tried with couple of PDF of various sizes (max of 9MB which has image and text both) and Adobe’s App used to take visibly one second extra to render i.e. takes time for the text to become visible.
Summarizing, as of now I will stick to MS PDF reader which is doing a well done job for me. Now, I am not a heavy PDF reader so if you guys have used it, do share your experience. Like it or hate it ?
