AirServer brings Miracast to Xbox One along with background audio support.

The app has been there for Xbox One for a while, but the Miracast update is new. You will have to spend $19.99, which is reasonable if you have that kind of use. The feature also works with Windows 10 devices. The recent update list the following update:

  • AirPlay support including AirPlay audio and AirPlay screen mirroring
  • Chromecast support
  • Miracast support
  • Background audio support

Digging a little more, here is what individual features can do:

AirPlay Mirroring: Using this, you can mirror your favorite games, and apps still experience great performance. This is useful if you have a game on your Android Tablet you want to play on a big screen.

AirPlay Audio: If you own an iPhone, you can stream the audio from Apple Music, Spotify, or any other music app and listen to it on your Xbox One.

Multi-room AirPlay Audio: Have a set of AirPlay speakers?  AirServer for Xbox One also brings multi-room AirPlay audio support, and use iTunes, be sure to try out the multi-room AirPlay audio feature in iTunes.

For the best mirroring experience, connect the Xbox to the network using an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi. If you are streaming music, then use AirPlay audio instead of AirPlay mirroring. Lastly, for the best Miracast experience, update your Windows 10 source device to use the latest Windows 10,
