Archiver App now supports ZIP file on Windows Phone (Skydrive and SD Card)
Archiver is a pretty awesome app that helps you centralize your Archive files end with .rar, .gz, .tar, .bz, and.7z, which are not natively supported in Windows Phone in the Email client.
Even though Windows Phone supports the .ZIP file, since there is a way to store them on the phone, this brings a couple of drawbacks.
- You need to download it every time you want to use it.
- Since there is no way to store them, You cannot just reuse them anywhere else.
- Also, the default viewer of Zip is not productive and nice to view.
Luckily, Archiver has bridged that gap too. It now supports the ZIP file which you have on your Skydrive. It also supports an SD card. This means copying a couple of ZIP files from your PC and opening them via this app.
To access your Skydrive, you will have to give access using the Cloud Settings within the app. Once done, it will scan all the folders and list down the apps for you.

However, you still cannot open ZIP files on Email in this quite disappointing app, but according to the app developer, it’s because of Microsoft’s restrictions.
Apart from these major changes :
- Archive App has an improved interface
- Improved Storage management which gives you the option to clear files according to category.
- Option to rename the archive files etc.
