Army Academy: Get Ready for the Boot Camp on Windows Phone
Army Boot Camps are training or exams which leads individual to become a soldier. Those who have an army background should be knowing it already and if you admire it, here is a game from Moxy Games–Army Academy–who have launched this as their first game on Windows Phone platform.
Game Play:
The game involves a novice who begins his journey to get the top rank in army but needs to get through all Boot Camp training. He needs to Run, Swim, Jump, Hit and jump over blocks, cactus, lava pits and sharks make sure the helicopter doesn’t catch him.
After playing through the initial stages, it seems to have 3 categories broadly which involves Running, Swimming and Jumping where later is the most tricky one because you need to coördinate with the swings or drown the sea. These environments span over 63 levels and it gets difficult as you play it to achieve more than 20 ranks to upgrade yourself from Private to Colonel.

The graphics are neatly done. It’s a flat 2 D game but attention has been paid to each element like the Eel, the hippo and the rocks.
There are few things you will experience in the gameplay:
- The controls to jump, swipe and hit are different. You will have to get used to them.
- When it comes to hitting it is not instant. The guy pulls his arm back and then punch so it takes a second before you hit the target.
- All three environments have different actions to forward and learning them will be tricky when you start playing it for the first time.
- There will lot of popups so make you read what it says else you will end up spending coins.
- There are different kind of threats here. Some just slow you down and take a bit of your life while others are instant kill. You will need to calculate when you want to run or swim fast if there is a hurdle through which you have to pass through. Electric eels are classic example here.
Annoying Advertisement & How to fix it:
Even though the app is free and has in-app purchase model, there is an advertisement on the top center and is very distracting, specially in the Water mode where the 20% of the screen is blocked.

After fiddling around a bit, there are options hidden deep inside.
- Launch a Level
- Select Powerups and then More.
- You would see a power up to disable Ads which is already purchased for you just not enabled.
- Tap to enable and it does a mock purchase after which all the ads will be gone.
Overall I loved the game for it’s casual gaming style. There are 63 levels and with each level getting tough will be enough for you to keep yourself busy for a long time.
