AroundMe is a Local Search App for Windows Phone

AroundMe is a popular app for iPhone and Android which allows users to search for nearby locations based on different categories. AroundMe can be called as a local search app and now they have officially launched the Windows Phone version. The app allows users to quickly find nearby Point Of Interest (POI) such as restaurants, hotels, theaters, parking, hospitals and much more.

Once you have installed the app, you need to enable location services on your phone. The app picks the location and shows the details about different locations around you. AroundMe app is available in over 200 countries and 19,000 cities across the globe, with 25 million monthly searches from its 6 million-strong user base.

You can search for categories like banks/ATM, bars, pubs, coffee shops, hotels, hospitals, gas stations, etc. Select any category and the app will populate the available list of locations for the area. If you select any particular location, you can view it on the map with you location mentioned on the map. So you get an idea on how far the location is from you.

AroundMe shows you a complete list of all the businesses in the category you have tapped on along with the distance from where you are. For every listing you can choose to see its location on a Map, view the route from where you are, add the information to your contact list or even email the information to a friend. The nearby listing allows you to find information using Wikipedia about what is around you.

We tested the app on Windows Phone 8 and found it to be really useful and without any issues. If you are looking for nearby points of interest, then this is an extremely useful app. The app is available free of cost from the Windows Phone store.
