Best Video Players for Windows Phone Windows 10 Mobile
MoliPlayer Pro: A Powerhouse media player
All the formats like RMVB, AVI, MKV, FLV, FLAC, APE, etc. It is a feature-rich media player with great performance, customization, playlist & support for playback speed control. You can pinch to zoom, comes with a Software and Hardware rendering option, and indicates battery all the time. The app comes with WIFI transfer as well. It is available on both Windows Phone 8 & 8.1 / Windows 10 Mobile and is for $2.99.
CCPlayer: Simple Yet innovative
It can play almost all the formats available with the subtitles written in SMI, SRT, ASS, SSA. It also supports MKV, and FLV formats. You can also adjust the video & brightness of the screen which is a great addition. The player allows you to have a playlist and maintain a history of files played.
MX PPlayer: From Land of Android to Windows
As the windows phone market share increasing more popular developers and apps are coming to windows phone. One such app is MX Player a top-rated video player app on Android is now available on windows phone though still in early stages of development. The app provides robust functionality & a fluid experience. Just like on the android app is completely free on Windows Phone too.
VLC Player: One of its kind & popular universal media player app
VideoLabs VLC media player is perhaps the well-known media player that we use on our personal computers & now it’s available on windows phone too as a universal app & shares the same code base as on windows 8 app. It supports almost all types of video playback formats. It is also a music player thus provides dual functionality.
The UI is simple and well sorted with separate tabs for music, videos, sd card & home, which shows you albums & videos you listen to and watch more regularly. Apart from the orange and white UI color scheme, you also have another option of black. It has a beautifully designed album. Swiping left shows the song or the media list along with Artist Info.
But one thing I noticed, especially on 512 Mb ram devices that the app crashes when trying to play video files & sometimes gets hanged. Though it’s still in the beta stage, and we can expect to fix it soon. Overall the experience is good. The app is available is for free and is only available for devices running Windows Phone 8.1 & up.
The app comes with explorer-like navigation, making it easier for users to locate files on Camera Roll, SD card, and other subfolders. It supports both long file name and title, resumes back playback from where you left, supports external subtitles in .srt, and comes with gesture controls where you can change position, volume, and brightness by swiping your finger over the screen.
The app supports AVI, MP4, M4V, WMV, 3GP, MOV. This player uses a codec pack that can be installed for free using the in-App purchases. Those looking for MKV file support, it’s experimental right now.
