Beta Version Of Skype For Windows Phone Finally Released!

Windows Phone 7 users, the wait is finally over! Skype has just announced via its official blog that it has released a beta version of Skype for Windows Phone. The app is already live in the Marketplace and can be downloaded from here.

The app does not integrate at all with the core WP7 OS as rumors were suggesting, but hopefully will happen with Apollo.

Skype for Windows Phone will allow users to make free audio and video calls to other Skype users via 3G/4G or Wi-Fi. The app has been optimized for the Nokia Lumia 710, Lumia 800, HTC Titan, Radar and the Samsung Focus S and Focus Flash. Even though the Lumia 800, 710, and the 1st gen WP7 handsets don’t have a front-facing video camera, video calling on these handsets is possible via the rear camera. The final version of the app is expected to hit the WP7 Marketplace sometime in April this year.
