Broadcom reportedly bidding $100 billion to acquire Qualcomm

A big news is coming in that the popular “Snapdragon” chip maker Qualcomm is going to be acquired by Broadcom.  Qualcomm is known for powering billions of the mobile devices across the world, especially Samsung, LG, Apple, and they had been working with Microsoft to bring Windows 10 on ARM

According to Bloomberg, Broadcom is bidding more than $100 billion for Qualcomm both in terms of cash, and stock. However, the final decision is still pending and might take some time to mature. if it works out, it’s going to be one of the biggest take over in the tech industry. Broadcom Limited is a leading designer, developer and global supplier of a broad range of digital and analog semiconductor connectivity solutions that serve the wired infrastructure, wireless communications, enterprise storage and industrial markets. Apple is one of its largest customers.

This is the primary reason why Qualcomm might be interested to get acquired, and it can actually help Qualcomm which is currently going on through a legal battery against Apple on breached contract. Once the deal is done, Apple will have to only pay the total price of the phone and the unit sold. Bloomberg shares:

Apple contends Qualcomm is unfairly charging too much and illegally taking advantage of its market position in chips. Qualcomm has countered that Apple, one of its largest customers, has lied to regulators in an unfair attempt to bully its opponent into charging less.

There is another thing that might make Qualcomm worried in future. They might have to face problems from Intel which is about the X86 emulation about Windows 10 on ARM.
