Call Recording won’t be Available for Older Phones which upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile

Call Recording is a very useful feature on Windows 10 Mobile. This feature was first seen on Lumia 950 XL / Lumia 950 devices, and then later on budget devices like the Lumia 550. In fact I posted a full feature post predicting that this feature will also get enabled for devices which upgrade from Windows Phone 8.1 to Windows 10 Mobile. Sadly that’s not the case.

Call Recording Old Devices Not coming Lumia

According to the official help pages, the feature is only available on devices which come preinstalled with Windows 10 Mobile. It’s not available on devices which upgraded from 8.1

This pointer comes from Sachin, who when asked @LumiaHelp about this feature as he was missing this on its one of the devices. The official response points to the same help page, and its very disappointing. The obvious question that if Lumia 550 which is powered by Snapdragon 200 can have this feature, why cannot devices upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile, even those which were recently announced.

The only response Lumia Help gave was that not all features will make it to devices which upgrade keeping the consumers puzzled. We seriously hope that Microsoft get this feature on to those devices after testing it with the Insiders. Check out the video recording to find out cal recording works on new Lumia devices:

How to Enable Call Recording on Windows 10 Mobile ( Lumia 550 / 950 XL)

While there are always technical challenges, but its hard to believe that Microsoft won’t be able to push his feature Its a very basic feature which is available in many Android devices even though they are low-end. While there are many third-party apps which can do call recording, but they aren’t natively integrated.
