Review : Nokia Lumia 920 Clear Cover by Puro
As many people know I’m not the typical smartphone user who hides the beauty of his device in a dedicated case. Especially if, the phone looks as outstanding as the Lumia 920 does. Nevertheless, I gave the Nokia Lumia 920 White Clear Cover by Puro a spin for the last couple of days, and I’m left impressed.
Solid Grip:
The device is protected by a silicon based surrounding. This is very similar to those Nokia shipped with the Lumia 800 which fits like a glove. The Clear Cover seems slightly thicker compared to Lumia 800 cover. However, this isn’t necessarily much of an issue. Lumia 920, with this case applied, doesn’t become noticeably larger or heavier.
What I did notice right away though, was the fact that the silicon added a fair amount of grip to it. Let’s be honest here, the glossy polycarbonate unibody can feel very slippery sometimes. Even though I like the feel, but if you’re not as careful handling your device as I am, the chance of dropping it is rather high. Not with Puro’s Clear Cover.
Build Quality and Design:
Unlike the surrounding material, the back of the case is made of a clear, strong plastic. This not only protects the phone better than pure silicon, but also adds a certain amount of stability. From a design point of view, it’s definitely something I needed to get used to.
However, after a while it looked somehow compelling to me. I admit though that a complete silicon case – which Puro offers as well – would look better, due to the cut-outs for the camera, sensors and flash.
Speaking of which, the silicon sports 6 cut-out areas: 2 for the speakers, 1 for the microphone, 1 for the SIM card slot, 1 for the earplug jack and 1 for the micro USB plug.
The volume rockers, power- and camera button are completely covered, but fresco like imprints give an impression of where the buttons are located. Just like the look of the back, the now covered buttons took me a while until I could operate them as easily as if there weren’t any cover at all.
Quick Tip When Choosing Colour
Like I’ve mentioned in the very beginning, I’m using the white version of the Puro Clear Cover, but it’s also available in black. Regardless of your device’s cover, I’d highly recommend using the black cover as the white one easily catches stains. Especially if you’re a smoker. You will notice yellow stains appearing on the cover after just 3 or 4 days.
My conclusion for the Puro Clear Cover is simple: if you’re looking for a high quality, very durable case for your device, which doesn’t cost a fortune, give it a shot. You won’t regret it. You can look for more Nokia Lumia 920 covers at their website.
