Chevron WP7 Lab Wraps up, But I guess something else is coming

When it comes to unlocking a Windows Phone, Microsoft Official App Hub was the only way to get it done but then came an intermediate solution, Chevron WP7 Project which gave a cheaper way to unlock phone to many who did not wanted to pay 99$ per year price. Going fast forward, this project came to end with an open offer to grab one year of free App Hub Registration if you are pretty serious about it. And today it was all wrapped up.

Now this whole period from announcement of project to come to an end and then giving out One year App Hub registration free was a mix of Anger, Happiness and etc stuff. The only reason behind was because nobody expected this to come to an end, specially because many users who unlocked their phone were more of Hobbyist but for who were serious about development did rejoice for one year free account.

What’s Next :

So now what are you alternative ?  Well if I were you ( I unlock to test around apps and not development ), I would have grabbed one year free registration because even though I am paying now, I will be refunded and in-fact I did. So the only choice for users who did not register is to use custom roms but then its at a risk even if they are safe.

Something else is coming ?

Its a wild guess because I read a comment from Rafael R which says “We’re not giving up either! Stay tuned!” which is replied to comment from John Liu, which says “I hope there were at least a few that used Chevron and ended up building great apps for the platform.”

I am not sure what is next, but there is something that the team is planning which could be anything. So lets stay tuned and get surprised.
