INCode : An Ultimate App to Find Codes on Almost Anything in India

When it comes to finding a code i.e. Bank IFSC Code, Airport Code, PIN Codes, Addresses of popular services like RTO, Passport and many others, its a nightmare in India mostly because of absence of a centralized service from Indian Government or because services like Banks haven’t made it easy to find for some unknown reason. I had a terrible experience finding toll-free numbers and Bank addresses personally.

A good friend of mine, Abhishek Baxi, developed an app to get this easy and built an app–INCode–which can help you figure out codes of various services like details of a national highway in India, region associated with a license plate number, or IFSC/MICR code of your bank branch and so on. In its first version there are 6 services includes Airports, PIN Codes, National Highways, Passport Seva Kendra, Regional Transport Office (RTO) and Banks – MICR/IFSC.

The data is in the app so you can quickly search even if you are not connected to internet. This gives a better user experience and works when most of the online service fails without a connection. You can select any service and type in details accordingly and it will auto search as you type.

On a personal level, I feel the app should enable following things in next or upcoming version

  1. Integrate Navigation for Addresses
  2. Allow to share the information over SMS, Email, Facebook, et al using the inbuilt sharing system in Windows Phone
  3. Cortana Integration as its coming to India, next week

Note: All the data has been collected from open data bases under Government of India, or its ministries. The app will be updated as the data changes but since its not real time, it may differ. That said, its important to understand that its only for information purpose and anything you want to do using the data from the app, should be cross checked before finalizing.
