Cortana Plays Music over the Raspberry Pi Home Media Server
Last week we saw how Cortana was used to manage the home lights, starting with switching the lamp on and off. Today we have yet another effort for Cortana from our beloved friend and Windows Phone developer, Shoban. He wrote a custom c# media server which runs in Raspberry Pi. Then using a Windows Phone App and Cortana in combination, he was able to play a song right over Raspberry Pi.

Here is the quick video of the app:

That said, I had a discussion with him on what else can be done. Here are the details from the developer himself.
“I developed a custom server in C# which runs in Raspberry Pi.
The Music App in WP connects to this server and gets the list of music and starts playing random songs.
Cortana is used to command which song to play or search. So, I can say Cortana Home Audio play Beautiful and
and it plays the first song which is named “Beautiful”
or when i say Cortana Home Audio
it shuffles the songs and plays them. I am planning to add pause play or stop and even volume control

The best part is its not just for songs. I can connect the Raspberry Pi to TV and play and control an HD video too. This way we get a whole home theatre experience completely controlled by Cortana and Windows Phone”.
I hope the developer releases this app and its home server for all those who love using Cortana and Raspberry Pi together. What do you all think ?
