Delhi-NCR Metro App for Windows Phone

I remember when I was in London, I used Tube Map App to get my anywhere between the stations. The app worked offline and has all the details without a need of network connection. When it comes to India, Delhi Metro is the best metro in the country and when looking for an app on Windows Phone which can do the similar job, the closest match was the Delhi-NCR metro app. This app is not beautifully designed but is also most information rich app if you are planning to travel Delhi by Metro.

Route Searching:

This can be done in two ways. First is to start by finding your own location and then select the nearest metro and go forward with it. Second can be done by using your address in case, the location is not working.

Once done that you should be able to select the source and destination and find a route by Metro service. The app provides with all possible routes including the least expensive and the most expensive ones. A clear detail on in-between stations, count of stops and changes are provided. What is missing is way the user can select fastest route or route with less changes. This should be implemented. As of now you can partially calculate using the travel time but does not necessarily mean fewer changes.

Interactive Map

Every data point in the app is interactive. You can tap on any station name and get details like gate directions, parking rates, bus route, train timings and so on. You can also find places around the area you can visit. It uses Google Maps in the background to figure out all those minute details.

The app also has an offline layout of Delhi NCR metro route for you to have a look but it’s not interactive but only to understand how the network is laced out and which route goes where.

Suggestion:

That said there are few features that should be implemented in the app:

List of tourist attractions between stations at a glance.
Allow uses to save their favorite routes to pickup in tap.
Search by least changes and fastest route.

Overall its a great app and if you are from Delhi-NCR region, suggest you to try and then let us know what else you would want to get implemented.
