Discovery Channel, TLC, and Animal Planet Windows Phone Apps Released

Even though a big update is due from Microsoft on Windows Phone, but for now, we are seeing more official apps making their way into the ecosystem. Today, Discovery, TLC, and Animal Planet have announced their Windows Phone 8 App, which lets you watch almost everything you have watched on TV. Note that these apps are already available in other smartphone markets like Android and iOS.

So if you are an animal lover and watch Discovery all the time to find out what’s new in the jungle, it’s time to grab these apps right away. What is common in all of them is they let you watch

  1. Full Episodes
  2. Short Clips
  3. and Television Schedule for their program if you want to watch it on the big screen with your kids. The best part is that you can set calendar reminders of the episodes not to miss them even if you are on a busy schedule.

Those who aren’t aware, all these channels are owned by DISCOVERY COMMUNICATIONS, LLC and so expect almost the same kind of user experience in all three apps.

Discovery Channel:

Apart from watching the shows like Deadliest Catch, Gold Rush, MythBusters, etc., you will also see behind the scenes and content and after shows.

Animal Planet

If your kid knows about this channel, then you are doing it right. I used to watch all animal stuff on discovery unless they came up with this. This app lets you watch shows, show timings, and more.

Some of the users will be disappointed as you cannot install or watch them in some countries like India. As a matter of fact, they seem to be only available for US Region. Discovery is trendy here in India, especially the shows broadcasted in regional languages, even though I hate that because for me, the primary language, English, works out better, and the kids learn it in the process.
