Discovery News App for Windows 8

A lot of effort is being made by the Windows team latterly to get more quality apps on the store and to its recent addition,  Discovery News has found its way to the Windows 8 Store.

The app features all the latest science news from dedicated category including Tech, Space, Human, Earth, History, Animals and Adventure. That said its more like an news feed where all the latest news can be read at one place along with images and gallery access. The app also includes videos from DNews from hosts Anthony Carboni, Laci Green and Trace Dominguez.

Once you start using the app, you would see all the latest news in a panorama view which is essentially amazing when used on touch screen. Tap on any of the news to get full details along with related news and galleries. Though overall experience of  the app is smooth, the app doesn’t download high quality image which could have enriched the user experience multiple times. Even when checking the gallery, the images were not of high quality.

The app also features Discovernator which lets you discover random facts which could be a great source for you and your kids to learn something new every day.

Nevertheless the app should be a great addition to Discovery Fans and you can always side stack to keep an eye and watch videos while you get your work done on the other side. I expect more integration, social sharing and better picture quality.
