LockMapper : Updating Map on Windows Phone Lockscreen with Traffic Details
While location tracking tends to drain a lot of battery, for those of you who love to have a map right on your screen all the time, we have an excellent app for you called Lockmapper. As the name suggests, it puts a map right on your Windows Phone lock screen and it changes every time you change your location.
How does it work?
Using the background enabled services, the app uses your location data to bring up the map which means it works even when you are not using your phone but it happens every 30 minutes.
This map then depending on your choice either can replace the whole screen or be mixed with Bing photo of the day to update the lockscreen. I like the later option as it keeps things fresh and beautiful with Bing wallpapers.

Features:
- It is possible to save a location on your phone and use it again when you are at the same place. You need to do it manually once but when done, it saves data and battery both.
- You can choose to display traffic which is paid feature and works via Nokia inApp Purchase which is capable of billing your operator.
- You can pin Lockscreen mapper to Start screen and choose if you want dynamic map or anything fixed.
- You can share your location via SMS or email and if the other person is using the same app, he can directly launch it over Lockmapper.
- Those concerned about battery can turn off features like Live Tile Update and save maps to make sure the battery is consumed less.

It’s a pretty simple app and after using it since last 10 days I kind of like it when I move around a lot. It also adds an extra feature to your lockscreen to detect your location apart from emails. That said, I would rather use it mostly when I am traveling and save locations with snapshots.
