Edge Screen Corruption: The Most Annoying Windows 10 Mobile Bug

Microsoft Lumia phones like the Lumia 640 and 640XL are reportedly facing a weird bug – Microsoft Edge screen corruption bug. This bug gets so freaking annoying at times. This basically corrupts Edge when you’re scrolling down. Suppose you’re surfing something or reading some article, the page gets all disfigured completely with portions from below pasting on top of page portions, and corrupting the display completely. And after it effects Edge once, it continues even in Cortana! Like, when you open Cortana and scroll the home page, things go blank for some reason.

However, one thing which should be noticed is, this happens only with Microsoft made Lumia phones that too only Lumia 640 and Lumia 640XL, running Windows 10 Mobile. Microsoft’s latest flagships aren’t affected by it. Agree, it happens once in a blue moon but it irritates very much!

WORK AROUND:

There ain’t any permanent work around to get rid off this bug. Fortunately, temporary solutions are there. You can try one of these steps, or all the steps.

Note: Check out the screenshots below, the screen disfigures completely, but it doesn’t appear in the screenshots. When you take screenshot, you get this white screen.

Step 1: Whenever you face this screen corrupt bug while browsing, try doing this. This might work only for minutes, but it works! This is what I do whenever I face this bug on my Lumia 640. For example, suppose you’re reading an article, scrolling down, and suddenly the screen gets corrupted. Then try this:

Click on the Windows button, which will take you to the Start Screen, and then click the back button, which will take you to back to whatever you were reading in Edge. Now, you can continue reading, but after a few minutes it will happen again. Keep doing the same, until Microsoft does something.

Step 2: If you don’t want to try the first step, you can go with this one. Whenever, the screen corrupts while browsing, start scrolling up. Keep scrolling upwards until the screen gets normal again. However, this one rarely works.

Step 3: If you’re looking for a solution which lasts longer than the two given above, then consider this one. As said, it will not give you a permanent solution, but will definitely solve it for you for some days. So, next time whenever you face this bug, just Restart your phone. Sometimes you would have to restart several times in order to fix it.

You might be thinking why didn’t I talk about Resetting the phone because that always seem to work. Well, let me tell you, in this case it doesn’t! I have personally tried a hard reset on my Lumia 640 but the bug didn’t go away. I’m still facing this bug, and it irritates a lot. So, I feel it’s better to not Reset the device, as you will be loosing all your apps, and not getting rid of the bug.

As there ain’t any permanent solution, we are left with these temporary tricks. Hope Microsoft fixes it soon. Comment if you too are facing the bug, and have any other workaround.
