Transfer My Data Updated to Support Import & Export of SMS over SD Card

One of basic feature that any phone user looks forward to, while switching their phones, is to get get heir contacts, and specially SMS, to his next phone. While this has been vastly addressed by syncing contacts over email, feature phone users still need a way out.

Nokia’s  popular, Transfer My Data, utility which supported this transfer, worked only over Bluetooth only, until the recent update. It now supports the transfer (backup and restore) of SMS to SD card. While the feature of export and import to SD was there before, it was only supported for Contacts and not SMS.

Note: This app is only available for Lumia Phones and those who have a SD card slot.

The option is available & hidden under the menu bar, so spare yourself from hitting the Start button. Depending on what you choose, the app will find the contacts and messages and will import or export as needed.

Transfer My Data SD Support

That said, this option is very helpful at many situations.

  • When you want to transfer SMS to feature phones, which do not have Bluetooth connection, but support SD Card.
  • You don’t need to have two phones in one place to transfer SMS
