Fitbit Ionic & Flyer launching Globally on 1st October with Developer Kit available Sept. 26

When Fitbit Launched Ionic last month, it made clear that it’s finally getting serious about Smartwatch segment, and moving beyond that just being a fitness tracker. The company launched version 2 of many of its product along with Flyer, the Bluetooth earphone.

Priced at $300, the Ionic Smartwatch is going on sale from 1st of October along with its Flyer Bluetooth earphone. The launch is much ahead of the holidays, and it only makes sense for the company to at least prove worthy. What is so different about Ionic is that it now has a dedicated OS with App Platform. The SDK for the app platform is opening up for developers from 26th. 27th of September so more, and more developers can get onboard.

As of now, Fitbit has Pandora, Starbucks, Strava, and AccuWeather, available on Ionic, and apps from Adidas All Day, Flipboard, GAME GOLF, Nest, and Surfline are expected to get onboard soon.  Check out more details about the watch in our post here.
