Fix : Lumia 550, 650 Not Charging Post Windows Insider Upgrade

A lot of you have reported that Lumia 550, and the recently announced Lumia 650 is not charging using standard USB or Wall charger, post recent Windows 10 Insiders Upgrade.  Thankfully, the issue is not physical i.e. your USB port is just fine, it’s the software that’s causing the problem. Luckily, a couple of users at Windows Central Forums who reported this, have a fix.

  • Download, and Launch Windows Device Recovery Tool (WDRT).
  • Connect your phone.
  • Next on the recovery tool select “Device not listed”, and follow the instructions.
  • You will need to turn the phone by pressing  Vol – & + and hold the power button. With that it will be in a bootloop.
  • N0w check WDRT, and it will see the phone and software.
  • Reinstall and it is done. Got .107 back

One of the questions that  was reported is what happens when the phone is low in charge like in 3%. Good news is that when your phone starts flashing, the phone gains the ability to charging the phone again.  It is also possible that some bug might be reporting the percentage of battery incorrectly, and the only to fix is to reboot the phone, after taking out, and putting it back in.
