WiFi not working on Windows 11/10 computer is one of the most irritating errors. So the question is, how to fix WiFi connection issues in Windows?

It can be because of an old router setup, or maybe the WiFi is turned off on the PC, and you did not know about it. Apart from these, it could be a network error, a recent Windows update, or a not working service. Sometimes a simple restart of the PC or the router fixes the problem.

WiFi connecting issues is a common thing on Windows machines. However, getting rid of the problem is not as complicated as one might think. So instead, here are a couple of fixes that you give a try:

  1. Make Sure WiFi Is On
  2. Connect To A Network On A Different Frequency
  3. Make Sure WiFi Switch On
  4. Run Network Troubleshooter
  5. Restart Your Modem

1. Make Sure WiFi Is On

One of the first things you should ensure is that your WiFi is on. Often, WiFi gets automatically turned off. Also, there is a good chance that Airplane mode is on your PC.

So click on the No internet connection from the right side of the taskbar, and ensure that WiFi is on.

Along with that, check that the Airplane mode is disabled. If WiFi doesn’t work after turning on, then connect, disconnect, and connect to your WiFi network again and see if it works.

2. Connect To A Network On A Different Frequency

You should also try connecting to a network on a different frequency band. Most WiFi routers offer two frequency bands, i.e., 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. These will appear as two separate networks in the list of available WiFi networks.

So in case your available WiFi networks list has both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks, then try connecting to each of them one by one and see if WiFi is working.

3. Look for a Physical WiFi Switch

In many laptops, a physical WiFi switch exists. And you have to manually turn the switch on before you can connect to your home network. So if your laptop has some physical WiFi switch, turn it on. There will be an indicator light showing you its status of it.

4. Run Network Troubleshooter

If nothing works out for you, you can try running a network troubleshooter. For this, you can follow the below steps:

  • Go to Windows search and type down troubleshoot settings, and launch it.
  • Click on Other troubleshooters.

  • Next, let Windows perform a scan and follow its onscreen steps.

You can also run the following commands on elevated Command Prompt or Windows Terminal

  • netsh int ip reset
  • ipconfig /renew
  • ipconfig /flushdns
  • netsh winsock reset

While the network troubleshooter should execute these steps, there is no harm in doing it manually.

5. Restart Your Router or Modem

You can also try restarting your modem and wireless router. It will help set up a new connection to your internet service provider or ISP. However, any other device connected to the WiFi network will be temporarily disconnected. To restart your router, follow the below steps:

  • First, unplug your router and modem from their power source.
  • Then wait for about 30 to 60 seconds.
  • Next, plug in your router and modem and power them on.
  • Now, wait for a few seconds and let your router and modem fully power on.
  • Once done, try to connect to the WiFi network and see if it works.

Apart from these, you can update the router, reset the router, and set up the ISP configuration.
