Flim Closet : TheMovieDB App for Windows Phone and Windows 8

Most of the Windows Phone users do have Windows 8.1 as their primary OS and any app which can integrate and sync data between both has its own advantage over those who don’t either sync data or don’t have a companion app.

Now, coming back to topic, if you search Windows 8 or Windows Phone store, you would find tons of apps that get Movie but they don’t sync your data across both the devices neither they have apps on both platforms and this is where Film Closet wins.

What is Film Closet?

This app brings you complete movie details by using the TheMovieDB API and if you have the account with them, you will be able to pull down all your favorites, watch list and so on to your device. Since the app uses the same API on both the platforms, whatever you change using one app, syncs on the other.

Features on Windows Phone and Windows 8 :

When you launch the app, in Windows Phone, the first you see is “my account” which we high recommend you to configure to track your movies. Once done that, you can swipe across over the beautifully designed panorama for Now Playing, upcoming, top rated and popular where the movie posters are stacked for you to explore. While all these panoramas are quick glance, you can use the menu section to launch a much detailed version where you get to see more.

While in Windows 8, it’s completely different experience because of space. So when you launch it, instead of account details, you have the most popular movie with brilliant wallpaper first. You can instantly choose to see details or watch trailer. Swipe across for Now Playing, upcoming, top rated and popular. Also in Windows 8, you have quick access to categories, search, upcoming etc. by swiping down or with a right-click.

Lockscreen support which allows you to change wallpaper by selecting a movie or a completely random one.

Using TheMovieDB login, you can import account info, favorites list, watch list, rated movies list, user lists and so on.

For every cast, you can find out details like biography, acting, posters and so on.
If you fancy using voice, it supports voice commands and text to speech.

Overall, Film Closet is an extremely well done app and must have for all movie buffs. The app was No 1 place in the competition in Windows Phone Hackathon 2013, CODEDAMMIT (Greece).
