Flyer – Fitbit Launches its First Wireless Earphones
Along with Fitbit Ionic, the company has also launched its first wireless earphones for those who love to workout. This Bluetooth enabled headphones are sweat proof and include two different types of sound profiles which can be changed on the go.
Signature and Power Boost is the sound profiles. While the first delivers crisp sound, and concentrate on the core quality, the second one is when you need that boost in the music to reach your ultimate goal. It uses sound technology from Waves MaxxAudio.
Here are the rest of the features:
- It comes with hydrophobic nano-coating i.e. it is sweat proof and can stand water from Rain as well, but I am sure there is a limitation.
- Control volume, music, and change songs on the go.
- Audio prompts for incoming calls, battery life, text messages, and so on.
- Supports multi-device connectivity.
- Claimed to have high-quality hands-free phone calls.
- It can reduce external noises, such as the wind, traffic sound, and crowd to make sure you can hear what you want to.
It comes with interchangeable ear tips, wings, and fins which make sure the earphones stay in place no matter which fitness program you are following.

It is expected that these earphones will last up to six hours, and can quickly charge up. Flyer is priced at $129.95 and will be available in the store worldwide October 2017.
That said, I fail to see if Fitbit is actually offering something unique here. All these features right from being sweat proof to wings and design is available with popular OEMs like Jabra, Jay Bird and so on.
Fitbit has missed an opportunity here to integrate step tracking into Flyer. This could have been really convenient for anybody who uses earphone all day and doesn’t want to have a band strapped around. I will straightforward compare this with Jabra’s Sports Headphones Series. They not only offer all these features, but can also track steps, and also your heartbeat. In fact, one of the headphones also supports audio coaching experience.
I am doubtful that Fitbit will see any positive sales here, and only the next version with added enhancements will draw some attention.
