FM Radio has a huge demand in India. This along with torch is something many people would love to have all the time on their phone. While Radio made its way back in Windows Phone 8, Windows Phone team planned to thrown on some surprise for all you out there—support for external speakers—so you can enjoy the music earphones free.

  • Plugin your earphones or any external 3.5MM jack.
  • Launch FM Radio.
  • Tap on the menu bar and select “Switch to Speakers”

FM Radio App for Windows Phone

Update: Sorry folks but it seems this was available in Windows Phone 8 as well. A long press over the radio and these options  appear. Seriously though, a long press on radio screen?

It’s that simple. Along with this, there are few enhancements to FM Radio:

  • There is a separate FM Radio app.
  • You don’t get a warning message about “not connected headphones”. This shows up only when you tap on the play button.
  • PIN your favourite station on start screen.

The option to Add stations to your favourites and access all of  them from your favourites section, is now inline with the music player playlist options. Those who never noticed, radio was inbuilt into the music + videos app in Windows Phone 8.

The settings in FM Radio lets you choose country where you can only find Japan and North America. For rest of the world, you have WORLD as an option to choose upon.

While this still doesn’t beat our favourite FM Radio Station App but it’s a warm welcome. Looks like Microsoft did change small things here and there.
