Xbox Entertainment Apps don't need Gold Membership

Finally Microsoft has learnt that putting up pay walls isn’t a good idea when they are free on the competition consoles.

Now Xbox Owners who don’t have the Gold Membership, will be able to get access to more than 180 apps worldwide like Netflix, ESPN, HBO Go, absolutely free. Even though this was a revenue generator for Microsoft, it’s time that they should stop losing their customers. In its next update for Xbox One and Xbox 360, this barrier will be broken and you will be even able to use Skype, OneDrive.

So can you live without Gold membership ? If you are serious gamer, the answer would be no. Gold Account is still required to get access to Online Multiplayer, Free games and other features.

So why did Microsoft made this move ?

Competition : It’s a primary reason. Consoles by Sony and others don’t charge anything for this and Gold been backfiring from a long time on Xbox.

Consumers : Starting with Xbox One, Microsoft has shifted their focus with an idea of putting a console in every house with its TV Integration feature. If the access to these apps are restricted behind a pay wall, it will lose a lot of ground in US if not anywhere else.

Connect external Hard drive:

Even though Xbox One has massive 500 GB space available for you to store games, music and apps, Xbox One will support external hard drive giving you enough space for years to come.

The following update, you will be able to connect two external hard drive with at least 256 GB of storage space each. The biggest advantage is that you would be able to take your content and connect with your friends drive and sign in with your Xbox Account.

Overall an excellent move by Microsoft and consumers gets the most out of the Xbox account even if they don’t have gold membership.
