It’s interesting to see a lot of apps showing up which allow user to customize the start screen in many different way. We talked about this in brief here and today we spotted another one in WPC forums.
The app named as Accent Builder allows you to create colorful backgrounds in such a way that you can have one solid color for each column of apps on your start screen. So you may have vertical strips of 4 different colors or even 6 if you choose the more tiles option.
This will by far be one of the most used apps for me because I would love to have different colors than image as background and if you share the same taste like me, this is an app you should not be missing. Also to note this will work with tiles which are transparent.
Using the app is pretty easy, just select the colors for each column and save it. While saving, it uses the file picker we have seen in IE and allows you save the picture at your desired location.
The app is free to download but comes with an in-app purchase of 0.99 USD if you would want to use more than two colors. So let’s say if you choose to have one color for two columns, one for third, the last column is set to white by default. If you are ok with white, you may skip the in-app purchase.
