Hauppauge WinTV-955Q gets you Over-The-Air TV On Xbox One

When Microsoft Xbox One was announced with its ability to support TV, and let consumers watch their Live matches while they are hooked on to the game, things were bit foggy that time. After over a year launch of Xbox One, things are now taking shape. Microsoft Xbox Team has announced a partnership with Hauppauge, the company who have excelled in building HD DVR like products, to bring over-the-air TV programs in US and Canada.

To take advantage of this service, you will need to invest in Hauppauge WinTV-955Q  which costs $79.99, and connected it with your Xbox and Antenna to get your favourite channels like  CBS, FOX, NBC, and PBS, which do not charge any subscription cost. It seems Antenna is a very crucial equipment here, just not because you need it, but because you need a good one to capture the channels nicely for you.

What you get with Over the Air TV on Xbox One:

  • OneGuide for TV Listings across Sources.
  • Snapping TV allows you to watch TV on the right side of your screen and leave the main screen for games, Skype or other application
  • Pause Live TV
  • Favorite Channels for quick access.
  • Stream Over-the-Air TV to Xbox One SmartGlass App which is available on Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

That said, Looks like we in India might have to wait for even longer to get Xbox One guide that can work with All DTH. I have asked Microsoft on this a couple of times, but nothing concrete as of now. We will keep you posted with the development.
