Having Android Apps hasn’t Helped Anybody; Microsoft Needs to Improve it’s Mobile Platform First

A lot of wishful thinking everywhere more than facts. Will Microsoft roll out an inbuilt emulator for its Mobile platform which will allow to run Android Apps ? or Will Microsoft develop a tool which can do the magical 3 clicks transformation from Android to Windows Phone ? Nobody knows unless Microsoft announces something in Build, till them its all thoughts.

After reading an interesting discussion on Reddit, I really want to share one comment that needs attention.

  • Having Android apps hasn’t done anything for Blackberry
  • Having Android apps hasn’t done anything for Jolla.
  • Having Android apps hasn’t done anything for Amazon.

It isn’t like Microsoft doesn’t already have a model that Android isn’t the answer.

I understand this sub has an obsession with believing that developers are so enamoured with Android, but the reality is that developers are fixated on iOS. They only bring their apps and games to Android once iOS becomes saturated. And that is if they bring their apps to Android at all.

It makes way, way, way more sense that Microsoft court iOS developers.

It’s not for the first time that Android support has been rolled out to a mobile platform, its been done before without a success. Which straight forward means, and a known fact, that what glues a consumer to a Mobile platform is the platform first than the number of Apps. Once the consumer is stuck on platform, Apps follow.

Microsoft is trying to fix its Windows Phone for some of very basic features over years, and they are slow. There had been bumpers, specially towards Universal Apps goal. Point is Microsoft been going back and forth many a times and we should see finally a hope of light today at Build.

Microsoft should put forward some clear thoughts, a design language which appeals to mass developers, development support for Android Platform using their popular Visual Studio Tool ( Preview already has mention of it for Cross Platform Dev), and get their OS right to get some basic features in place which consumers been craving from a long time.
