Review: Amazing Weather HD is Stunning Weather App for Windows Phone

I wasn’t much into weather discussion a lot but seems this topic is a major ice breaker to start a conversation with anybody. So I started trying out a couple of app and finalized myself with AccuWeather. It is definitely an awesome app but Amazing Weather HD completely blew me off. Now since we are not here for comparison, I will just talk about Amazing Weather HD which is right on sale for 0.99USD.

Apart from being a regular weather app, it packs in bunch of features for which I like it the most.

Real-life Lock Screen Animations:

It truly makes your lock screen alive and kicking. When you select it to use your current location, it bring in wallpaper which is according to that weather. So if its cold, you get ice and if it hot, you get warm wallpapers.

You have option to use different kind of styles which ranges from full screen cinematic cuts. This way you can keep the weather distraction less and give more importance to your notifications.  However, if you are a weather buff you can have the wallpaper display

• Hourly Weather.
• Daily Weather.
• Current Weather

All these with beautiful animated wallpapers unless you want to choose Bing wallpapers over it.

Live Tile Options:

It is also possible to customize your Live Tile. This is an alternate option if you aren’t willing to sacrifice your existing Lock Screen App with this one.  These options show up when you choose to pin a city on start screen.

You can choose between animated tile, daily weather, hourly weather or even weekly. Good thing is that you can choose any of these options to appear on your Front tile or Back tile. There is no restriction on them.

Since Windows Phone 8 has three sizes for tiles, the customization can be done separately for every size. So if you want the largest tile to display images but smaller to display only temperature in figure, it can be done.

More Info in one screen:

Even though the app is simple it does a good job in putting up substantial amount of data in one screen. Once you add a city, you get to know the current temperature, what it feels like, humidity, pressure, dew point, etc.

The bottom section of the display tells you weather details according to day i.e. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and so on. And if you want more, just slide to left and details of days in coming week can be seen too.

Beautiful and Smart:

You will not only be impressed by the Lock Screen animation but also how the background wallpaper changes depending on the temperature and season of that city. So if temperature is hot, you get warm wallpaper and if its cloudy, you get cloudy ones.

Settings:

App gives you a lot of control on what kind of data should be displayed. This ensures you are spending less on battery and keeping the excessive details off the screen. I will leave this on you to explore.
