HERE Auto—Embedded In-Dash Navigation System

Nokia has announced a new product, HERE Auto, an embedded in-dash navigation system, and also the HERE Auto Companion app which will be able to control the system. HERE Auto will be able to work offline and also connect to Internet whenever available and download the latest updates available to maps.

Nokia is providing API access for HERE Auto, so that car makers will be able to customize it.

As of now there are connected app for Windows Phone and Android to manage the system. With this smartphone app for Android and Windows Phone, you can find out where you left your car (with LiveSight) and stay in touch with all the sensors in your vehicle such as the fuel level and tire pressure. You can even lock/unlock your car or control air conditioning.

With HERE Auto and its companion app, you can plan your journeys. It offers the following features.

  • When you plan your journey – on here.com or on your smartphone;
  • When you drive – with embedded voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation in 95 countries, traffic re-routing and fuel prices;
  • When you approach your destination – with street level images, parking availability and indoor maps.
