HoloLens has a Windows 10 PC & Mobile Companion App

It looks like Microsoft is damn serious about HoloLens. Not only are the pre-orders going live on 29th February, but Microsoft also have their apps, games, and even a companion app for Windows 10 ready. Spotted by the WalkingCat, the app lets you remotely connect with your HoloLens from your PC or Mobile and then manage things on it.

The app description says:

Connect to your HoloLens over WiFi using this companion app to do common functions like downloading media, viewing a live stream from your device, or even remotely launching apps and controlling your HoloLens!

Looking at the screenshots, feedback, and comments (people are definitely using HoloLens already), these are the features supported through the companion app:

  • You can connect to multiple HoloLens.
  • Remote option to restart shutdown, check battery status also available.
  • View, Download Photos and videos take with HoloLens.
  • Watch a Live Stream of what the person wearing it can see. I will love to see if you get to see real-time 3D animations as well in it.
  • Launch Apps from the companion apps on HoloLens. Cortana is definitely on the list.
  • You can also kill apps remotely.

The app looks like a universal app, and it’s great to see that it is available for both Windows 10 PC and Mobile. I expect an app for Xbox soon, but we will only know when some integration gets announced.  Future definitely looks exciting about HoloLens. You only need $3000 to try it in the future.
