People App is getting back the features it was stripped off, one by one. Yes, I am talking about its integration with various apps which can help you create a complete social profile of anybody, and see what they are up to on their network. A feature which was a selling point in Windows Phone 7. The only thing that has changed from then, and now is you will have to eventually use the respective app complete experience e.g. you can see Facebook Feed in people hub, but you when you tap it opens in Facebook.
The resent insiders update to Windows 10 Mobile & Xbox Beta App have integrated such that you will be able to see Xbox Contacts in the People App, both on PC and Mobile. Once this feature freezes, this will become available to public on regular builds. Here is how to set it up:
- Install Xbox Beta App, and sign in with your account if you haven’t signed in yet.
- Next Launch People App. Also, make sure you have the latest version by checking with the store.
- In the people app, under search box, look for a label which says SHOWING. Next to it is “All”. Tap on it.
- Here you can select to show contacts from different apps. Look for Xbox beta, select and tap on done. There are options for Emails, Messaging + Skype, Facebook and Skype.
It is possible that this may take a bit of time to show up, and you might have to close the apps, and launch them again to see the integration in place. Once complete, you will be able to see only those person from your Xbox friend list who have set to show their real name. So gamers with only gamertag won’t show up.
What you can do with this integration? Almost nothing. When you open that Xbox Contact, all you get to see is option to send message which ultimately opens in the Xbox
