HP announces Pro x2 , A Military-Grade Windows 10 Convertible for Professionals

Today, at MWC 2017, HP has launched yet another Windows 10 Convertible for Professionals who are always on run and want to make sure their device is full proof from drops.  HP’s Pro X2 is an effort towards it, and by the looks, it impressive.

The main highlight of the device is its ruggedness. It has been tested to military-grade testing  “MIL-STD 810G tests”.  This means only one thing that it’s tough, and can withstand worse situations.

HP’s Pro X2 houses a 12-inch FHD display which is shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The mount is aluminum. It is powered by Intel’s latest Kaby Lake processors, and depending on which model you choose, you can pick from an i7 to Core M3 to Intel’s Pentium. When it comes to memory, you get 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD storage. As anticipated it is powered by Intel HD Graphics 615. It’s not for those who need a lot of editing work to be done.

It supports LTE connectivity, includes a fingerprint reader (optional), and in terms of ports, you will be greeted by a USB 3.1 Type-C, a USB 3.0, microSD card slot, and a headphone jack. The rear-facing camera is 8MP rear-facing lens with a single-LED flash, while the front-facing is only 5MP but with 1080p.

When it comes to battery, HP claims to deliver long battery life, and if you get into trouble, you can get up to 50% battery life in just 30 minutes of charging6 with an HP fast charging battery.

Inspired by Surface, you get a detachable keyboard and a stylus. HPs Pro X2 design actually reminds me of the t-book. It comes with Similar Keyboard and the hinge is just carved out like this i.e. instead of full metal support, it’s only a frame. Interesting to note that kickstand is user-replaceable.

The same goes for keyboard, and it also looks similar to Surface Pro 4 keyboard. HP has also included a Stylus called as HP Active Pen. Yon can open apps instantly, which once again is pretty much what Surface Pen does.

When it comes to Software, you get a bunch of software bundled or pre-installed on the machine which includes HP BIOSphere, HP Sure Start Gen3, HP Client Security Gen3, HP Secure Erase, Preboot Authentication, Absolute Persistence Module, Drive Encryption, and a whole lot more.  It also comes with HP Velocity tech which can greatly improve data, voice, and video communication transfer rates over LAN and Wi-Fi network.

Good to know that the device is available right now, and you can buy it for $979 from HP.com. There is another higher model available which will cost you $1700+
