While it worked, the usability and the features were pretty much limited. As a matter of fact, Microsoft did have big plans for Continuum, including an option to make it work without the dock.

As a matter of fact, Microsoft’s Continnum works without the dock but then you cant plug in anything like a keyboard or a mouse. However, everything when south, when Windows 10 Mobile was pretty much scrapped by Satya Nadella.

Huawei, one of the top companies making some brilliant phones has Continnum inbuilt into its recently announced Mate 10. The best part is that it works without any external hardware like the Microsoft Dock or even Samsung’s Dex which was launched with Galaxy S8.

Continuum without a Dock?

All you need is a standard USB-C to HDMI cable, and plug it into your monitor or TV, and Start using it. It features a multi-windows desktop which streams separately to display, while the phone is still usable, and can also be used as keyboard and mouse. You can either mirror or extend the smartphone display like a PC.

The Huawei Mate 10 / Mate 10 Pro runs on Huawei’s all-new EMUI 8.0 powered by Android™ 8.0. Features include an AI Engine to fully leverage the capabilities of the Kirin 970; an AI Accelerated translator to deliver faster and more accurate interactive translation for a smoother communication experience.

I am guessing it should also work on Miracast, but I don’t see anything substantial right now.
