Huawei takes on the MacBook Air with the all new MateBook X

At an event in Berlin, Huawei just announced the new MateBook X. MateBook X is said to be the world’s smallest 13- inch laptop. It is the first of the MateBook series that features a traditional aluminum clamshell design instead of a 2-in-1 configuration. With the MateBook X, Huawei is taking on the new MacBook Air.

Talking about the specs, MateBook X is a 13-inch device that offers a 3:2 aspect ratio at 2K resolution with a 4.4mm bezel. As it is not a 2-in-1 device, the company decided to exclude the touchscreen. It comes with a choice of powerful 7th Generation Intel Core i7 or i5 processors. It comes with storage options of either 256GB or 512GB SSD. RAM will be 8GB. The company is using Space Cooling Technology, Microencapsulated Phase Change Material – commonly used in the aerospace field to keep the device cool.

Huawei claims that MateBook X is the first notebook to feature Dolby Atmos Sound System with speakers co-designed with Dolby. The power button is also a Fingerprint scanner that comes with Windows Hello authentication. MateBook X is available in three colors: Prestige Gold, Space Gray and Rose Gold.

The new MateBook X will begin shipping this summer.
