India’s Election Commission Releases App for Windows Phone; Makes it easy to Apply

India is heating up with elections which will start this month and follow through the next month with billions of voters showing up to caste their vote for the next government. That said, this time is also a busy month for India’s Election Commission to get the young generation on-board.

That said, they have released an official app for Windows Phone which makes it easier for anybody having a Windows Phone to apply for a new voter card or get some correction done. This app allows you to  register as a new voter (FORM 6), NRI voter (FORM6A), apply for corrections (FORM 8), apply for transposition of entry in electoral roll (FORM 8A), apply for objecting/seeking removal of name in electoral role (FORM 7) and lastly users can also check the status for his/her applications. That said, you will be able to check your status of application as well.

That said, this is a great step from the Election Commission to get the app to Windows Phone to as many young consumers are hooked on to Windows Phone Lumia 525 or the 520.

When you start using the app, you will have to register using your email id and phone number. Once you have received your verification code, which works perfectly, you can register a new account. With that done, you will have access to all the forms which you can see in the above image.

Also good to see that the app picks up your recent location to fill in the state district and even the assembly. This makes it easier for you to fill in the form but make sure there is no false positive.
