Instagram is no more about just posting pictures. In past one year, it has been forced to change because of the competition, and today Instagram has introduced “Live with Friend” feature which lets you video stream with any of your friend or even a guess no matter where they are. This sounds like Nokia’s Bothies but for friends living far away.
** Just before you send me alarming comments about details on how Bothie works, I know what it is, I hope you get the idea for comparison.
When doing a live video broadcast, simply tap on the new icon on the bottom right and tap “Add” to invite anyone who’s currently watching. Once they join, you’ll see the screen split into two and your friend pop up right below you. They have the option to make an exit anytime, or you can do it to add someone else.
This feature sounds like a great idea for marketing. I can imagine this being used by big celebrities to invite their fan over a question or giveaways or just promote some stuff. Huge potential.
When someone you follow is going live with a friend, you’ll see two circles stacked together in your stories bar. You can tap on it to watch, and like and comment as you follow along.
These updates are available as part of Instagram version 20 available for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android in Google Play.
