Install Other OEM Marketplace Apps on any Windows Phone
Having a Samsung Windows Phone and wanting to install HTC Hub or Contacts Transfer or App Highlight seen on Nokia Collections/ Lumia ? or Apps which just work on LG phones ? For many of us it is not possible but if you have a dev unlocked phone, you are going to say thanks to GoodDayToDie for bring all the XAP Files which can be deployed to any Windows Phone you have to switch OEM market place one at a time and without any Inerop Unlock Issues.
Disclaimer : It worked on my Samsung Focus and I assume it should work on all phones but I do not guarantee and hence no responsibility if something goes wrong with your phone. Make sure you do have a backup for that. Also there will be apps which will fail to work if it utilizes hardware specific features.
How does this work ?
- You need to download the OEM Specific XAP from this thread and then deploy on your Windows Phone. You can do it only if it unlocked.
- Next reboot your phone and go to Marketplace and you should see OEM App section in place.
- Then you can access it and download it and use it.
Few Things to Note :
- You need to deploy XAP again and reboot to switch OEM marketplace’
- For Nokia you would see any Nokia Section, instead the dev says you need to search for a Nokia App ( Type Nokia in Search ) and then you can find all the apps by Nokia using More Apps bu publisher.
- Your default OEM section will restore once you reboot the phone or whenever it checks, in case it does not deploy your OEM specific XAP and you will be done.
- Some Apps might not work because there are drivers required for them.
