Whats Coming in Interactive Live Tiles, Notifications and Action Centre in Windows 10 in Future

During the Ignite sessions, Microsoft shared details on how they are working on the next version and future updates of Tiles, Notifications and Action centre. In a session by Christine Matheney and Jerry Nixon, and the slideshow posted on Channel 9, here are the following details on how things are shaping up now.

Interactive Live Tiles:

Its been a long time we have seen the tiles flipping, and this needs to go ahead to do even more. Microsoft Research wants to take this forward with Interactive Live Tiles which will allow one to use part of the app, like a quick feature, right from the tile. So a calculator can be used without launching the app or  an email tile where you can scroll to see whats more in the inbox. These are nothing but Widgets which we have seen in Android platform, and it will only make sense for them to come to all Windows Platform.

Adaptive Tiles

Microsoft is aiming for an adaptive UI which can scale to any device, big or small, and this is where the idea of Adaptive Tile gets into pictures. Similar to Start Screen, where number of tiles change, tiles will be able to adapt and able to adjust the content within them.

New Toasts:

Toast notifications have been of minimal functionality till now. They are just to show whats in, but there have been no improvement. Microsoft is now working on next version to Toast notifications which like tiles could be interactive, bigger, and more useful. As a matter of fact, the notifications might work across devices and from developer perspective have been merged for Windows 10 Phone and PC.

Action Center:

In the session, Microsoft expressed a clear intention, that they want to get the Action Centre experience unified and more or less the same. This also includes synchronizing the notifications and actions across devices. As a matter of fact, the Action centre which we will see in Windows 10 for PC, will be inherited from the Phone.
