While we have already seen a couple of Mixed Reality Headsets announced at IFA including, Dell, Lenovo, and Acer, Microsoft has officially made a list at IFA. Good news is we have one headset which will cost $299.
- Acer Mixed Reality Headset will cost $299,
- HP Mixed Reality Headset will cost $449 along with controllers.
- While Dell & Lenovo will cost you $349.
All of these headsets will launch with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update on 17th October of this year. That said you should know that there are two types of Mixed Reality now, on the technical level. One that will use the integrated graphics card, and the other which will need a dedicated graphics card.
I am assuming that these headsets support both, but to experience the best when it comes to Games, and Mixed reality you will need a dedicated graphics card. The most expensive in the list is from Asus which will be aimed at business costs $535 and will be available in Spring 2018.
Here is a piece of advice from my side. Do not over expect from Mixed Reality right now. While the platform is ready, we need to see if the big apps and games make their way into the store. Hardware alone is not enough, and if you think you want to make a smart decision, I will suggest you hold for a couple of months to see how the final pieces come together.
Most of these headsets are more about VR, just like the Oculus RIFT and HTC vive. The kind of demo we have seen till now, the expectation is huge, and it will not happen in one day.
