List of Features not Supported for Ported Android Apps for Windows 10 Mobile
Project Astoria, Microsoft project which will make it easy for developers to port their Android Apps to Windows 10 Mobile, with least effort is being awaited for public reveal by many. While it will support most of the things to map Android Services to Windows 10 Mobile services, there is a list of things that is not supported as of now.
How to Install Android Apps on Windows 10 Mobile
WMPU has managed to get their hands on the document which clearly lists those limitations. As of now apps have no access to the features which are essentially restricted by Microsoft even for the Windows developers.
- Lock-screen replacement
- App Widgets
- Live Wallpapers
- Dialer Replacement
- Launcher Replacement
- Task Manager
- Memory Manager
- Ringtone Manager
- Find my phone
- Custom dangerous permission, and Apps that install other apps.
It is expected that Microsoft will essentially open up the support for these, and I would definitely like to see it opened for Windows developers first. However, features like app installing app or even access to memory manager seems to be pretty much impossible as it will give in a way to the impressive security features in Windows Phone. Features like Lock Screen replacement, Live Wallpapers, Dialer replacement should be a good point of interest.
